May 3 – Girls Lacrosse Whips the Bulldogs 12-1
In the penultimate league game of their season, the Acalanes girls lacrosse team brought new faces to the field for an away game at Alhambra and welcomed the new players with a decisive 12 to 1 victory. Sophomore Natalie Elliott made her debut with four saves, splitting time with veteran team captain Samantha Repstad who had a quiet game with two stops in the first half. Elliott joined her senior sister Sabrina on the field, and sophomore Jamie Wendt joined her sister Kelsey and found the goal in her varsity debut. The elder Wendt also had three draw controls and an assist for the Lady Dons. Sophomore Susie Bush paced the offense with four goals.
Further scoring for the Dons came from Sydney Louie for two, and Marie Whitmore, Julia Mueller, Emma Workman, and Claire Gallagher. Senior captain Kelcey Higgins kicked off the second half with a little excitement, moving up from her normal defensive position to score for Acalanes. Jenna Kisner contributed a perfect assist to add to the Dons offense. Marie Whitmore and Anna DeRoque controlled ten loose balls between them to help keep the ball on the Dons’ side of the field. Whitmore and Louie each had two caused turnovers.
The Dons close their regular season Friday night at home against Miramonte. Senior recognition will take place right before the game’s start at 7 p.m.
