Mar 9 – JV Boys Lacrosse win in OT

The men’s JV lacrosse team pulled out a thrilling OT win at Piedmont to improve to 3-0.

Piedmont took an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter.  A very fast team, Piedmont scored mostly on fast breaks where they had numbers.  In the second quarter each team scored a goal and Piedmont led 4-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Acalanes scored 3 unanswered goals and trailed 5-6 in the final minutes.  With 30 seconds to go, Jefferey Novak scrambled around right on the crease and squeezed in a goal to tie the game and send it to OT.

Piedmont won the first face off but The Dons badgering defense made them cough it up and led to a fast break.  Solid goalie play by Piedmont saved a wide open shot forcing the Acalanes defense to hold again.  On the next possession, The Dons offense settled and moved the ball around. Riley Ketcham found Renn Strandberg on a cut across the middle for the game winner!

The men showed a great deal of determination despite being down by 3 goals at half.  They look to keep their undefeated streak going this Tuesday at home vs. College Park at 5:30 pm.
