Mar 8 – Boys LAX
The Dons faced off against De Le Salle on Tuesday night in what resulted in an exciting game. The teams appeared evenly matched throughout the evening with the Spartans scoring the first and only goal in the 1st quarter. Leo Barakos had an outstanding goal in the 2nd quarter with DLS having 3 of their own. Score at halftime was 1 to 4. In the 3rd quarter Jack Thoren landed a great goal and DLS scored one as well. The 4th quarter started with a score of 5 to 2. Nate Welcomer managed to shut down the Spartans by continually stopping their shots. Nathan Brickman had a 4th quarter goal followed shortly after with a fast break and a goal by Michael Bone. With less than a minute to play, the score was Dons 4 to DLS 5. In a scramble and hard fought battle, the Dons got the ball back in scoring position with just 19 seconds left on the clock. In an attempt to tie the game, the Dons set up a play but were not successful in landing the final shot. Final score Dons 4, De La Salle 5.
Goalie Nate Welcomer played an outstanding game with 13 amazing saves! Josh Baginski, Glenn Johnston and Brian Maiken continue to improve on their dynamic defense with Joey Gladden fighting hard for ground balls and interceptions.
Nathan Brickman had 1 goal and 1 assist, Leo Barakos had 1 goal, Michael Bone had 1 goal and Jack Thoren had 1 goal. Grant Jackson and Leo Barakos successfully battled in the midfield.
Next game is Friday at home against Marin Academy.
