Dons Soccer Ties in Seesaw Opener with College Park.

The Dons Women’s Soccer team opened play in the new Diablo Athletic League Friday night at College Park. The Dons jumped out to an early 1–0 lead when Jessica placed a perfect right foot volley on a corner kick delivered by Emily Smith in the fifth minute. The match remained tight through halftime. Midway through the match Coach Anthony Rescon changed up to a 4-3-3 alignment. The midfield machine of Smith, Molly Davis, and Callie Ericksen controlled much of the remainder of the match except for the occasional College Park counterattack. They fed the dons attackers Kierra Krawec, Caroline Clark, and Allison Merrill, but the Dons went nearly 50 minutes without another goal. In the meantime College Park tied and then went ahead on second half goes down the left side of the College Park attack. The relentless Don’s pulled even in the 58th minute when Krawec headed home a left side cross from Clark. Each side had their chances in the final minutes, but neither could break through to go ahead.

The Dons next match will be Wednesday at Alhambra.
