Feb 24 – Wrestling NCS Championship

The wrestling team competed at the North Coast Championships this weekend at James Logan High School. The team had the best NCS tournament in it’s history. Acalanes finished with three medalists, the most ever, and the second State Qualifier in the wrestling teams history.

All four Acalanes Wrestlers made day two of the tournament. Ben Ross went 3-2 at 140. Axel Jurgens placed 7th at 162, Tai White placed 5th at 134, and Jeremy Ridge placed 3rd at 147 and qualified for the State tournament. Jeremy will represent Acalanes next weekend in Bakersfield.

Wrestling is different from the other sports. There is only one division in NCS and CIF that all 900 schools participate in. The California state tournament is recognized as the toughest in America and represents the best wrestlers in California all competing for 14 state championships, 1 champion in each of the 14 weight classes.
