Dons Win League Opener Against Las Lomas

On Tuesday night the Dons played their first DFAL game of the season and dominated the Las Lomas Knights with a winning score of 16 to 6. The action started early with Sam deRoque winning face-offs which led to quick goals and an early lead by the Dons. At the end of the first quarter the Dons were up 5 to 1. With constant pressure from the Don’s defense, Las Lomas was forced to turnover the ball again and again. Vinny Gladden and Glenn Johnston led the charge, each causing 4 of the LL turnovers. By halftime, the score was 10 to 3 and the Knights simply didn’t have an opportunity to recover.
Offensively, Nathan Brickman and Tyler Henderson were an unstoppable combination with Brickman scoring 5 goals and 3 assists and Henderson scoring 4 goals and 2 assists. Grant Jackson and Chris Lane each had 2 goals. Leo Barakos, Colin Jeffries and Cole Tanner had 1 goal each with assists coming from Michael Bone, Sam deRoque, and Jack Thoren.
Goalie Danny Ennis had 4 saves in the first half and Nate Welcomer had 9 saves in the second half.

The Dons will face Dougherty Valley on Monday at Dougherty Valley.
