Dec 7 and 9: Boys Varsity Soccer: A rare series of own goals lift the Dons in their 1st week of DFAL action!

Hosting Las Lomas on Wednesday for their first league game, Acalanes had to wait to go down one goal after 20 minutes to step up the pressure. From that moment on, the Dons didn’t stop to push forward, forcing the opposing defenders to score twice in their own net, on each side of the half. Final score: 2-1 in favor of Acalanes.

On Friday, Acalanes was visiting defending DFAL & NCS champion, Campolindo, in an always entertaining matchup. As expected, the first half clearly showed the opposition of styles, the Cougars multiplying the short passes for their buildup and the Dons playing their more traditional direct approach, but neither team could take the lead. 0-0 at half-time. After the break, Campo lost control of the game and allowed Acalanes to score the first goal of the game on an own goal (again!!!) after a brilliant cross from senior Aidan Maguire. That advantage would not last very long with Campolindo tying the game 5 minutes later for a final score of 1-1.

This coming week, a still undefeated Acalanes team (3-0-3) hosts Dougherty Valley on Wednesday and visit Alhambra on Friday. Both games start @ 6:15pm. See you there… Go Dons!
