The DFAL Cross Country League Championships were held on Saturday, 5th at Hidden Valley Park. It was a cool but dry afternoon and there were some great efforts by the Acalanes teams.
The first race was the Frosh/Soph Girls. The team finished 4th with Briana Grether finishing 12th overall. The remainder of the team, Julia Machol, Katie Anderson, Emily Cavanaugh, Diane Halm finished together, 18th, 19th, 21st and 22nd.
Frosh/Soph Boys raced next with the 5th as a team. Freshman Ian Stuertz finished first for the team.
The JV Girls finished 3rd as a team with standout performances by Caroline Wilcox (3rd place) and Haley Kisner (6th place). Ali Bergmann finished in the top 20.
For the JV Boys Scott Lindsay finished first. He led the whole race holding off Campo’s top runner the entire 2 mile race. The team finished a very strong 2nd place. Nick Warren had a very strong race finishing 5th. The remaining team was: Luc Van Oss (13th), Jack Connolly (23rd) and Ricky Brundage (24th).
The Varsity Girls finished 2nd as a team with some very impressive individual performances. Annie Marggraff finished 2nd overall, Kelly Collins (7th), Amy Hollshwandner (9th), Tara Bozzini (10th) and Kelli Berge (13th). The girls are in a good position to do well in the NCS Championship race in two weeks. Annie is now 2nd on the all-time list for Acalanes on the Hidden Valley course. Kelly is 4th and Tara 5th.
