In Fridays action (It was a good day for the Dons)…
 
The boys basketball team pulled out a 1 point victory over Dublin HS 51-50 on Brett Renner‘s game winning basket assisted by Kevin Huber, with 9 seconds left in the game.
The girls basketball team played well in their 41-30 victory over Dublin HS.
The girls soccer team got a much needed 3-2 win over Las Lomas HS to propel them into the NCS playoffs.
The boys soccer team tied Las Lomas HS 2-2 earning a share of the DFAL Championship.
 
Fridays individual standouts…
 
Boys basketball  Michael Jackson scored 17 points, with 1 3-pointer, 10 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists.
Stephen Collins scored 13 points, with 2 3-pointers, 10 rebounds, and 4 steals.
James Griffin scored 7 points, with 1 3-pointer, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
Girls basketball  Sophie Taylor scored 19 points, with 5 3-pointers, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Kiara Harewood had 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Girls soccer       Annie Beliveau scored 1 goal, and had 1 assist.
Becca Bostwick and Melissa Cameron each scored a goal.
Anja Simonsen had an assist, and Brooke Balfrey had 6 saves.

NCS Soccer Playoffs…
 
The boys socccer team is the 2nd seed and will host Kennedy HS, Richmond Wednesday at 7:00 in the first round of the NCS Playoffs.
The girls soccer team is the 11th seed and will play at Miramonte HS Wednesday at 7:00 in the first round of the NCS Playoffs.

The basketball teams play Dublin HS.  At Dublin HS, jv boys at 4:00, varsity boys at 5:30, varsity girls at 7:00.  At Acalanes HS, jv girls at 4:00, freshman boys at 5:30.
The soccer teams finish the regular season against Las Lomas HS.  Girls are home, boys are away.  JV at 4:15, varsity at 6:15.
 
In Saturdays action…
 
The freshman boys soccer team plays at Deer Valley HS at 1:00.

Acalanes Boys Soccer Week of Jan 30 – Feb 5,2011
One more week in the DFAL!
With a win at Dougherty Valley (1-0, goal from sophomore Graham Lindgren, assist from senior Cam Carda) and a tie at home vs Dublin (1-1, goal from junior Austen Grassini), the Dons (8-1-2) have now 26 points, two in front of Campolindo in the DFAL standings, with one game to play. The title will be decided this week after Wednesday game between Campo & Las Lomas, and Friday game between Acalanes & Las Lomas. In the meantimes, the Dons (14-3-4 overall) travel to D1 power, Livermore, on Monday (Feb. 7th, 6pm) for their last nonleague game of the season & celebrate “Senior Night” on Wednesday (Feb. 9th, 6pm). Go Dons!

February 6th – Scholastic Achievement

Congratulations to the Winter sports teams as all of them achieved NCS Distinguished Scholastic Teams by having a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better.  I cannot remember this ever happening at Acalanes HS since I have been here.  Way to go!!!
