3 more wins for the Dons!
The Dons (11-2-2, 5-1-1 DFAL) have now won 9 consecutive games and all their six games in 2011. This week started with a nonleague game against Piedmont and a comfortable 2-0 win on goals by juniors Jacob Carroll and Austen Grassini (volleying in a nice cross from senior Nick Pereira).
On Wednesday, Acalanes was hosting Las Lomas (DFAL) – a “revenge” of their Winter Soccer Classic encounter a few weeks ago lost on pks after a 0-0 game – and made it look easy with a convincing 4-0 and four different juniors on the scoreboard: Austin deBack (Pereira assist), Grassini (senior Cam Carda assist), Dylan Autran and David Dadiomov. Lastly, on Friday, the Dons defeated a strong Miramonte team 2-1 in DFAL action. Senior David Helfrich scored a cracker from 30 yards at the half-hour mark, followed a few minutes later by a lethal header from Dadiomov after a cross from Carda (his 6th assist of the season!). Junior GK Jackson Foote had a terrific week again, supported by an impressive and experienced cast of defenders, with seniors Adrian Chow-Danel, Sean McArthur, D. Helfrich, Carda and junior Carroll as well as sophomores Graham Lindgren and Dan Glascock.
Everybody is now going to focus on finals this coming week with their only game vs Berkeley at home on Saturday, January 22nd at noon. Should be an exciting one!
