In Thursday’s action …

 

The baseball team shutout Concord HS 8-0 to raise their record to 7-1.

The boys volleyball team defeated Miramonte HS in a closely contested battle 26-24, 25-17, 25-27 and 25-17.  The JV team was behind in the first game 14-5 and rallied to a 31-29 victory followed by a 25-14 clincher.

The baseball team plays Benicia HS at 4:00.  Varsity is home and JV is away.

The boys lacrosse team hosts College Park HS.  JV at 5:30 and varsity at 7:00.

The Football Academy will take place at Acalanes July 9 – 12  and is open to all athletes entering 5th-9th grade in the Fall of 2018.

 

Since this is new for our program, we are asking for your help to spread the word.  We hope to make this the most sought after youth summer football camp in the East Bay. Please send the attached camp flyer to any families that have kids interested in learning more about football.

GOAL of the DONS Youth Football Academy is to teach fundamentals, develop skills, and help kids with the transition to tackle football in a fun, fast-paced, and non-contact environment.

The Dons Youth Football Academy will be staffed by current Acalanes High School Football coaches as well as a full complement of experienced high school and college players and a certified trainer.

The boys tennis team defeated De La Salle HS 7-2 to raise their overall record to 3-1  Trenten Tso, Ryan Everly, Matt Gay, Cole Brightbill and AJ Hesby won their singles matches.  Henry Huchingson & Esteban Vant and Aidan Alagappan & Clay Schmidt won their doubles matches.

In Wednesday’s action …

Girls lacrosse headed west yesterday to face Bishop O’Dowd.  The game was tied 5-5 at the half and O’Dowd came out strong scoring 3 goals in the first 40 of the second half.  The Lady Dons battled back to seal the deal with the final score of 13-10.  Lauren Westergren led the offense with a whopping 7 goals.

 

In Thursday’s action…

In Tuesday’s action…

 

The girls lacrosse team played incredibly well to defeat EBAL power Carondelet HS 7-6.  Time stood still during the last second of the Acalanes girls lacrosse game last night as goalie Jamie Wendt defended an 8 meter shot with one second left in the game leading the Lady Dons to a 7-6 win over Carondelet.  Wicked defense by Coco Fellner, Cate Goodman, Jenna Kisner and Katrina Lee was the key to the big win against the Cougars. The JV team also won by the identical score of 7-6.

The boys lacrosse team suffered a narrow defeat to perennial playoff power Marin Cathollic HS 11-10.

The boys tennis team shutout Alhambra HS 9-0.

The softball team overwhelmed Skyline HS 16-3.

The unified basketball team defeated Miramonte HS 36-16.

 

In Wednesday’s action…

 

The boys basketball team plays at Grant HS in Sacramento at 7:00 to open the CIF NorCal playoffs.

Note:  At all CIF playoff games there is an admission charge.  $9 general and $5 for students, children and senior citizens.  No passes will be honored.

In Thursday action…

 

The girls basketball team finished the regular season with a 53-28 victory over Concord HS to lead them into the NCS playoffs.  The JV team won easily.

The boys basketball team outplayed highly ranked Las Lomas HS, but were overtaken in the fourth quarter in a 58-51 defeat.

The boys tennis team was defeated by Piedmont HS 6-3.

 

In Friday action…

 

The JV boys lacrosse team has a scrimmage at Livermore HS at 5:30.

 

In Saturday action…

 

The boys soccer team hosts San Lorenzo HS at 7:00 in the NCS quarterfinals.

The wrestling team competes in the DAL Championships at Alhambra HS.

Note:  At all NCS playoff games, there is an admission charge.  $10 general admission and $6 for students, children and senior citizens.  No Boosters cards, passes or ASB stickers are honored.

 

Note:  At the DAL wrestling championships, there will not be an admission charge, but there will be an opportunity to donate to the Ryan Joseph fund.  Ryan is the College Park wrestler that was injured this season in a league dual meet and is paralyzed.

The Freshmen Dons left nothing but Ugly Eagle feathers on the court…Their penultimate game did not disappoint the Acalanes parents and fans in the stands at Clayton Valley Charter.

Fueled by 19 first-half points from Jackson Aris-Dumas, the Dons took a 37 to 12 lead at the break and then coasted to a 64 -38 victory. Aris-Dumas led the team with 24 points, while Yanatan Draznin added 11 and Joey Carrillo had 15 rebounds.

Looking to avenge their only league loss this year, the Dons will close out the season against Las Lomas Thursday at 4 pm in Walnut Creek. Come cheer on your Freshman team!

What: Acalanes All-sports meeting (Fall / Winter / Spring) for all Acalanes sports for this year.

When: Tuesday, September 5th @ 7pm

Where: Acalanes PAC

Topics: Important issues for all sports including athletic funding, CIF and NCS rules & registrations, and Q&A.

This meeting will be the only All -Acalanes sports meeting for this year.

Individual sports team meetings with coaches will occur as usual prior to each seasonal sport.
