Jun 2 – Josh Candau named DAL Co-Pitcher of the Year

Acalanes ace pitcher Josh Candau has been named as a first team All-DAL selection for the Don’s division one baseball team.  Candau has also been named DAL Co-Pitcher of the year. Candau has enjoyed 2 outstanding seasons as a Dons starting pitcher. This past regular season, Candau  finished with a 7-1 record, and 51 and  1/3 innings pitched. He allowed just 5 walks, struck out 47 opposing hitters, and only allowed 4 earned runs all season for a 0.54 ERA.

Candau has signed a letter of intent to pitch at UC Santa Barbara next season.

Jun 1 – Volleyball All-League Honors

The Boys Volleyball Team capped its best season in years with several All-League Awards, including Connor McCarthy being named MVP of the league.  Below are the award details:

1st Team – Bijan Shahabi, Carter Smith & Nick Smyrnios
2nd Team – Brad Altbaum & Colin Kirbach
Honorable Mention – Alex Franke

May 27 – Track & Field NCS Meet of Champions

Congratulations to the following track & field athletes that placed in the top three at the NCS Meet of Champions to qualify for the CIF State Championships Friday and Saturday at Memorial Stadium at Buchanan HS in Clovis.

Windy Margerum won the long jump and placed 2nd in the 100 hurdles.
Ethan Westemeier won the triple jump.
Ryan Nall placed 3rd in the discus.

Congratulations also to the following placing in the top six at the NCS Meet of Champions.

Imani Boggan placed 4th in the 800.
Carson Etnyre placed 6th in the 400.
Ryan Nall placed 6th in the shotput.
Alex Christensen and Anna Weier placed 6th in the unified 100.
Alex Christensen and Anna Weier placed 7th in the unified long jump.
Scarlette McCullough, Muppy Gragg, Imani Boggan and Windy Margerum placed 4th in the 4×100.
Imani Boggan, Muppy Gragg, Annie Klopstock and Emily Sverak placed 4th 4×400.

May 22 – JV Boys Lacrosse

The 2017 DAL Champion JV men’s lacrosse team was celebrated Monday night at the Contra Costa Country Club during the men’s lacrosse banquet.

The team captains opened up with great praise for our two exceptional coaches Taylor Howell and Cole Tanner. Stingy Oliver Rotundo was awarded team MVP, Coast to Coast (C2C) Carson Burill was named defensive MVP. The Hoover award for sucking up ground balls went to Renn Strandberg, The Matt Lynn award for resiliency, working through adversity and hard work went to Edward Gray. Tucker Loughran-Smith Offensive MVP, and Cole Schoenheide Most Improved.

The incredible coaches went on to speak that the roster from top to bottom played great lacrosse, the men not only bought into the system but they bought into themselves. The following awards were also presented.

Julie Gladden put on a fantastic banquet to celebrate both the varsity and JV men’s program and the strong lacrosse program shows signs that we’ll bring home NCS titles as well as State.
