Marsh Creek Invitational

Freshman Nicole Frigon crushes the women’s varsity 800M

Muppy Gragg, Mila Mathias and Maren Quinella sweep the women’s 100M Hurdles with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishes

On Saturday, Acalanes competed in the Marsh Creek Invitational at Freedom High School in Oakley.

Muppy Gragg won the 300M hurdles with 45.22, which is a PR and the second fastest time in school history. She also won the high jump, placed 2nd in 100M hurdles and 3rd in Shot Put.  Jesse Stralla won the 100M with a season PR of 11.06, and continues to show he is one of the top sprinters in the section. Freshman Nicole Frigon won the varsity 800M and ran a PR in the 1600 with a 5:34.97, placing 3rd.  This is the third week Nicole has placed in the top three in a one or more events.  Keaziah Smith won the long jump with a PR 21’4, but what made this different was the board Keaziah jumped off of was floating on water and every time Keaziah jumped, the board would leak water.  Johnny Choi won the high jump with 6’2″ and was part of the 4 X 100 team, finishing 2nd.  Ryan Nall, in his first meet of the year won the shot with 46-08.5 and placed 2nd in the discus. Karen Rosenburg won the discus with 97’11. In the varsity men’s sprint medley (200, 200,400, 800) we had two teams in the top three; and the 4 x 400 (Rayce Walton, Harrison Seymour, Irvin Chao, and Kevin Mlynek) finished 3rd with a PR. What made this special is that the 4 x 400 is usually competed by sprinters, but Rayce is a 800 runner,  Harrison is a 1600 runner, Irvin is a 400/800, and Kevin is the only true sprinter in the group.
