Oct 4 – Wednesday Sports

In Tuesdays action…

It was a battle and the girls volleyball team came out of it on the winning side against Las Lomas HS 25-20, 18-25, 25-17, 18-25, 15-11. The jv team won in two games.

It was a tough day on the courts for the girls varsity tennis team. Our lady dons felt to Miramonte 7 to 2. With several of the lines being extremely tight we were able to pull out wins with Sydney Bell in line 3 singles and Jasmine Toni in line 5 singles.

In Wednesdays action…

The water polo teams host Campolindo HS. JV girls at 4:00, varsity girls at 5:00, varsity boys at 6:00 and jv boys at 7:00.

Tuesdays individual standouts…

Varsity girls tennis. Sydney Bell and Jasmine Toni won their singles matches.

JV girls volleyball. Annika Olson was the offensive standout and Charlotte Glass was the defensive standout.

Sept 28 – Thursday Sports

Acalanes Girls Lacrosse

On Monday, October 2nd there will be a pre-season meeting for the Acalanes Girls Lacrosse program in the Cafeteria at 7pm.

If you are interested in playing lacrosse this year it is important that you attend this meeting. Parents are encouraged to attend. Coaches will be there to discuss the season, pre-season clinics and try-out information!

In Wednesdays action…

The boys water polo team also opened league play with a 17-12 victory over Las Lomas HS.

The girls water polo team defeated Las Lomas HS 13-7 in their DAL opener.

The girls golf team was defeated by Northgate HS.

In Thursdays action…

The girls tennis team has a match against Campolindo HS at 3:30. Varsity is home and JV is away.

The girls golf team has a match against Campolindo HS at Moraga CC at 3:30.

The freshman football team plays at Newark Memorial HS at 6:00.

Wednesdays individual standouts…

Varsity boys water polo. Max Stryker and Bennett Winther each scored 5 goals and had 1 assist. Jake Stone added 4 goals and 1 assist.

JV boys water polo. Charlie Bettencourt scored 5 goals.

Girls water polo. Jewel Roemer was the offensive standout and Bella Wentzel on the defensive end of the pool.

Sept 27 – Wednesday Sports

Girls Lacrosse pre-season meeting.  On Monday, October 2nd there will be a pre-season meeting for the Acalanes Girls Lacrosse program in the Cafeteria at 7pm. The girls volleyball team pulled out the victory in an epic battle with Miramonte HS 30-32, 25-21, 25-23 and 25-15. The freshman team also won 25-19 and 25-11, but the JV team dropped a close one 25-15, 11-25 and 11-15.

The girls tennis team defeated Las Lomas HS 7-2.

The girls golf team was defeated by Irvington HS.

The water polo teams play at Las Lomas HS. JV girls at 4:00, varsity girls at 5:00, varsity boys at 6:00 and JV boys at 7:00.

The cross country team competes in the DAL Center Meet at Hidden Valley Park at 3:30.

The girls golf team has a match against Northgate HS at Rossmoor GC at 3:30.

Varsity girls volleyball. Madi Risch and Samantha Darin highlighted an outstanding team effort.

JV girls volleyball. Melissa Elliott and Annika Olson stood out on offense and Charlotte Glass on defense.

Sept 25 – Monday Sports

In Fridays action…

The football team continues to roll with a 56-7 victory over De Anza HS to remain undefeated at 5-0. The jv team also won 54-26 to remain undefeated at 5-0.

The girls water polo team defeated Menlo-Atherton HS 18-4 and Mitty HS 16-0 in the Amanda McDonald Invitational.

The boys water polo team defeated EBAL power Monte Vista HS 21-11 to raise their record to 8-4.

In Saturdays action…

The girls water polo team defeated Sacred Heart Prep HS 9-3 and Soquel HS 7-6 and are the champions of the Amanda McDonald Invitational, while raising their overall record to 9-1.

Fridays individual standouts…

Varsity football. Robby Rowell completed 18 of 25 passes for 264 yards and 3 touchdowns. Nick Kresnak added 2 touchdown passes. Brian Merken had 3 receptions for 59 yards and 2 touchdowns, Chris Rogers 6 receptions for 55 yards and 1 score, Nick Price 2 receptions for 53 yards and 1 score. Keaziah Smith scored 2 rushing touchdowns and Jake Delaney added 1 score. Tommy Thrasher had 3 receptions for 51 yards and 3 tackles. Nick Henderson led the defense with 5.5 tackles, Alex Cortessis added 4 tackles and Nick Bettencourt and Seth Pezman each added 3 tackles.

JV football. John Kalil completed 18 of 24 passes for 264 yards and 3 touchdowns. Avery Howell rushed 13 times for 163 yards, 3 touchdowns and a 54 yard kickoff return. Jack Muren had 4 receptions for 73 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wes Alpert had 6 receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown. Luke Miles had 5 receptions for 78 yards. Nick Pearson led the defense with 8 tackles and Mikey O’Donnell and Ben Clark added 5 and 3 tackles, respectively. Jack Miles had an interception.

​Girls tennis. Zoe Cate and Jess Gerson won singles matches. Olivia Reinecke & Sam Sweeney, Molly Cronk & Vivian Toni and ​Sophia Cooper & Rachel Minden won doubles matches.

Freshman football. Brady Huchingson completed 8 of 12 passes for 121 yards and 3 passing touchdowns and one running score. Jackson Aris-Dumas had 3 receptions for 49 yards and 1 score. Quinn Elle and Adam Kim each added a receiving touchdown, Thomas Schrader an interception return for a score and Sam Heyman returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown. Defensive standouts. Graham Oh had 8 tackles and Adam Kim and Thomas Schrader each added 3 tackles. Adam Kim, Logan Hope and Graham Oh also had interceptions.

Sept 18 – Monday Sports

In Fridays action…

The boys water polo team defeated Gunn HS and was defeated by Menlo School in their Ron Richison Invitational.

In Saturdays action…

The football team put on quite a performance defeating San Marin HS 49-14. The jv team led off the day in like fashion 46-12.

The boys water polo team defeated Jesuit HS and was defeated by Buchanan HS in their Ron Richison Invitational.

In cross country action, the Dons competed in the De La Salle-Carondelet Nike Invitational Meet on Saturday, September 16, 2017.  In girls action, the top lady Dons were Freshman Nicole Frigon, who finished 3rd (2nd Frosh) in the Frosh/Soph 2-mile race with a time of 13:34.5 and Freshmen Beth Hamalian and Binti Sohn finished 29th and 33rd (16th and 19th freshmen) with times of 14:51.2 and 14:54.1, respectively, leading the Don’s to a 7th place finish; Junior Emersyn White finished 62nd out of 251 runners in the Frosh/Soph/JV Unlimited 2-mile race with a time of 16:14.5; and Maxine D’Orazio placed 68th out of 122 runners with a time of 16:22.5 in the girls’ JV 2-mile race.  Way to go girls!!!

In boys action, the Frosh/Soph finished 8th out of 30 teams, with Sophomore Nick Hutson leading the Don’s with a 16th place finish (11th Sophomore) out of 201 runners and a time of 11:33.2 for the 2-mile race, Freshman Derek Kotarba and Sam Roth finished 39th and 42nd (13th and 14th freshmen), respectively, with times of 11:58.7 and 12:00.6; Freshman Owen Myall finished 60th out of 323 runners with a time of 13:35.9 in the Frosh/Soph Unlimited 2-mile race; Freshmen Tucker Starbuck and Ethan Chow finished 117th and 118th out of a tough 175-runner field in the JV Unlimited race, with times of 13:26.1 and 13:26.4 – what a close finish between those two!  Other notables in the JV Unlimited race were Freshman Josh Evans and Sophomore Aidan Bodner, with times of 13:31.1 and 13:31.9 – another close finish!  In boys’ Varsity action, Junior Joshua Starr earned the Don’s top spot with a 91st place finish out of 241 runners and a person record time of 17:12.1 for the 3-mile race.  Junior Riley Noon and Sophomore Andrew Owens also had fast races with times of 17:32.0 and 17:35.2.  Great job boys!!!

In Mondays action…

The girls golf team competes in the Poppy Ridge Invitational at Poppy Ridge GC at 12:00.

Sept 15 – Friday Sports

In Thursdays action…

Boys Water Polo pulled out a big victory over Jesuit HS 15-12 to raise their overall record to 4-2.

Girls Volleyball was defeated by Alhambra HS. The JV and Freshmen teams recorded victories.

Girls Golf was defeated by Miramonte HS.

Freshmen Football defeated Bishop ODowd HS 27-13.

In Fridays action…

Boys Water Polo hosts the Ron Richison Invitational.

In Saturdays action…

Football plays at San Marin HS. JV at 11:00 am and Varsity at 2:00 pm.

Thursdays individual standouts…

JV Girls Volleyball. Offensive standout was Erin Meade and defensively it was Charlotte Glass and Jessica Larrick.

Freshmen Football. Brady Huchingson was 11-12 with 4 TD passes. Sam Heyman caught all 4 TDs and had 150 yards catching. Interceptions by Thomas Schrader and A. Kim. Logan Hope forced and recovered a fumble.
