In Fridays action…
The football team rallied for a hard-fought victory over Skyline HS 28-21.  The jv team won in overwhelming fashion.
The girls water polo team defeated Foothill HS 16-2, and then defeated perennial power Monte Vista HS 5-4.

Individual standouts…
Football                Carson Gardner rushed for 170 yards on 14 carries, and scored 2 touchdowns.
Spencer Henderson and Peter Mitchell each scored a touchdown.

The girls cross country team finished first at the Ed Sias Invitational.

Individual standouts…
Cross country    Amy Hollshwandner finished 3rd, Annie Marggraff 5th, Kelly Collins 6th , Tara Bozzini 8th, and Kelly Berge 14th.

Tyler Troxel finished 10th.

JV boys – Scott Lindsay finished 2nd, and Rick Brundage 11th.

Frosh-soph boys – Michael Wang finished 2nd.

Frosh-soph girls – Katie Anderson finished 4th, Lauren Chuck 5th, and Morgan Samaniego 8th.

September 8 – Varsity Girls Volleyball Falls To San Ramon

The Lady Dons Varsity Girls Volleyball fought hard against San Ramon, but ended the match on the losing side in four, 25-22, 14-25, 17-25, 22-25.

The first match showed the Dons in fighting form.  Services aces fired across the net from Tyanna Roy, Rachel, Lila Schoenfield and Amanda Jarquin.  Huge blocks by Schoenfield, Rachel Cox, and Joanna Harnish denied the Wolverines extra points.  A number of beautiful off-the-net plays, diving saves and big digs left no doubt who would take the set.  A service ace rocket from Roy ended the game, 25-22.

September 8 – Freshman Girls Volleyball defeats San Ramon

The Acalanes Girls Freshman Volleyball team continued its winning streak, defeating San Ramon in two sets, 25-18, 25-19.  The Lady Dons showed strong offense with services aces from Holly Fleischmann, Taylor Odom, Jillian Wickline and Sarah Moore.  Back row defense from Ying Stroebe, kept the line strong with key saves and a beautiful back row kill.  Acalanes kept on the attack with kills from Holly Gillar and Wickline, off assists from setter Dory Grobeck.   Nicely placed tips from Janine Jaber, Grobeck and Gillar drove the game forward.  The final three serves by Moore, all aces, sealed the victory.

September 9 – Varsity Football – Dons Football Pulls Off Close Victory Over Titans

Dons Football Pulls Off Close Victory Over Titans. Acalanes 28-21 over Skyline.

The Acalanes Dons pulled out a close win Friday, September 9th, over the Skyline Titans. After a slow first half and an intimidating lightning storm, Acalanes took over the second half on their way to a 28-21 victory in their first home game of the season.

In Thursdays action… 

The girls volleyball team fell to San Ramon Valley HS 3-1.  The jv team also dropped their game 2-1, but the freshmen won 2-0.
The freshman football team was defeated by Stellar Prep HS.

In Fridays action…

The football team hosts Skyline HS.  JV at 4:30, varsity at 7:00.
The girls water polo team hosts the Acalanes Invitational.  The varsity team plays Foothill HS at noon.  Come out and support them on your lunch break.

In Saturdays action…

The girls water polo team hosts the Acalanes Invitational.
The girls volleyball team competes in the Wolverine Varsity Invitational at Deer Valley HS.
The cross country team competes in the Ed Sias Invitational at Hidden Valley Park at 9:00 am.
The boys water polo team competes in the Miramonte JV tournament.

September 6 – Freshman Girls Volleyball at Heritage

Acalanes Freshman Girls Volleyball team came out strong in their first official outing, defeating Heritage High School in two sets 25-15, 25-17. The first game saw both teams trading points until Holly Fleischmann’s service run, which includes several aces, expanded the teams lead.  Defense led by Libero Ying Stroebe, worked perfectly with well placed digs. Smashing kills were offered up by Sarah Moore and Alta Paladino off sets from Fleischmann while middles Janine Jaber and Katie McCarty blocked point attempts by Heritage. Service aces by Taylor Odom, McCarty and Jillian Wickline’s seven point run, including five aces, brought the Dons within one point of winning. A service error on Heritage’s part, closed out the set.
