July 17 – Athletic Clearance

Get your 2018-2019 Athletic Clearance for ALL Sports on campus at Acalanes High School!

 

All Acalanes student athletes must have a completed athletic clearance form BEFORE participating in any AHS sports including tryouts. NO EXECEPTIONS!

 

 Sports physicals will be offered on two dates at Acalanes:

 

July 25, 2018 – 3:00 – 6:00 PM – Cafeteria (some sports start July 30)
 August 14, 2018 (Dons Day) – 8:00 -11:30 AM – Main Gym

 

Take advantage of the convenience! Support Acalanes Boosters at the same time!

Dr. William Workman, Dr. Selina Shah, Dr. Alphaeus Wise, and Chris Clark, our AHS Athletic Trainer, have volunteered their time to examine Acalanes students and provide athletic clearances for our athletes.  This is an amazing fundraiser for Boosters which has historically raised over $10,000 for all sports programs.

 


 

Registration is simple and the cost is just $40.00:

You will not need to upload any of the medical forms, we will do it for you!

 

2. Next, go to this link: https://www.acalanes.k12.ca.us/athleticclearancesummary

  • You will find (3) athletic clearance forms.
  • Print all (3) forms,
  • Fill out the only the History Form (page 1) only
  • Bring all (3) forms to the medical exam
  • The other two forms are for the physicians to fill out upon examination.
  • SIGNATURES: The HISTORY FORM must to be signed by the athlete and the parent or it will not be accepted.

 

3. Bring $40 cash or check made payable to Acalanes Boosters.

  1. Nothing more to do. We handle the remaining paperwork and clearance with your coach(es)!

During the Thanksgiving Break…

Saturday, November 18…

The football team capped off a great season in the NCS quarterfinals in defeat to Bishop O’Dowd HS.

Cross Country.  The boys finished 8th overall and the girls 14th at the NCS Meet of Champions. On the boys side, Riley Noon placed 22nd, Josh Starr 26th and Ethan Frigon 42nd. On the girls side Nicole Frigon placed 33rd.

The frosh-soph girls soccer team easily defeated Concord HS.

Tuesday, November 21…

The boys basketball team fell 49-48 on a shot in the last minute by Foothill HS in the NCS Foundation Game. The jv team also lost a close one 61-58, but the freshman team won 68-58.

The young girls basketball team started off the season with a loss to Mission San Jose HS in the NCS Foundation Game. Sophomore Lauren Kobashigawa led the way with 17 points and freshman Gabby Schneider added 13 points.

Saturday, November 25…

The boys basketball team battled the Alumni team down to the final seconds in a 66-62 victory.

​As we return from the Thanksgiving Break, Winter sports shifts into high gear.

In Mondays action…

The boys soccer team hosts Richmond HS in a scrimmage. JV at 5:00 and varsity at 7:00.​

Cross Country NCS Results

The Dons Cross Country Team represented Acalanes well at the NCS meet in Hayward on Saturday, November 18!! Thank you to our coaches Mike Maloney, Jeff Hutson, Jed Morrow & Kristina Rojo for a great season!
The Boys team placed 8th overall out of 23 schools, led by Junior Riley Noon flying across the finish line in 22nd place with a time of 16:34.20!  Following closely behind were Junior Joshua Starr in 26th place, with a time of 16:35.50, and Senior Ethan Frigon, with a time of 16:52.70.  Well done!
The Girls team finished 14th out of 18 schools.  Freshman Nicole Frigon came in 34th with a time of 19:42.70.  Way to go!

Cross Country DAL Championship Meet Results

The Dons came out in strength in the DAL Championship meet on Saturday, November 4, 2017 in Martinez.

Over 80% of the runners had time improvements from the same Hidden Valley Park course back in September! Way to go Dons!!!

Highlights from the meet:

Freshmen Nicole Frigon and Beth Hamalian finished 1st and 3rd overall in the Frosh/Soph Girls 2-mile race with times of 13:37.5 and 14:09.2, respectively!! Also finishing in the top 15 was Freshman Binti Sohn with an 11th place finish with a time of 14:30.2. Sophomore Maxine D’Orazio finished 21st with a time of 15:22.8. Times for Beth, Binti and Maxine were all personal records this year! WOW!!! Great job ladies!!! The ladies led Acalanes to 3rd overall out of 7 teams behind Campolindo and Las Lomas. Great job!!

The frosh/soph boys didn’t disappoint either! Sophomore Nick Hutson came in 1st place with a time of 11:07.3. Now that’s smokin’ fast! Sophomore Harrison Seymour finished in 5th place with a time of 11:27.3. Both times were personal records this year! Amazing running boys! Acalanes finished 4th out of 9 teams behind Campolindo, College Park and Clayton Valley.

The boys varsity also had a very strong 3-mile race, with Senior Ethon Frigon finishing as the top Don in 12th place overall with a time of 16:49.7. Great job!! Juniors Joshua Starr and Riley noon finished 19th and 21st with times of 17:05.1 and 17:19.0, respectively. Freshman Dominic Basaldua rounded out the top 25 with a time of 17:35.6. The Dons finished 4th out of 9 teams behind Campolindo, Las Lomas and College Park.

Great job to all the runners! It’s been a great season! Off to NCS for the top runners this season, which will take place November 18 in Hayward.

Nov 4 – Saturday Sports

In Fridays action…

The football team finished the regular season pulling out a victory over Miramonte HS 24-21.

Robby Rowell had 168 passing yards, with 2 touchdowns and 107 rushing yards. Brian Merken had 4 receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Nick Price added 3 receptions. Jesse Iniguez-Stralla had a 93 yard kickoff return for a touchdown to begin the second half. Nick Bettencourt had an interception late in the 4th quarter to preserve the win. Trenton Tso had 9.5 tackles, Nick Henderson 6 tackles, Ryan Nall 5.5 tackles and Scott Brydon 4.5 tackles.

In Saturdays action…

The #3 seeded girls water polo team plays Las Lomas HS at Miramonte HS in the NCS quarterfinals at 2:30.

The #5 seeded boys water polo team plays #4 Miramonte HS at Miramonte HS in the NCS quarterfinals at 3:45.

The girls volleyball team plays at Moreau Catholic HS in the NCS quarterfinals at 7:00.

The cross country team competes at the DAL Championships at Hidden Valley Park at 1:00.

Note: At all NCS playoff games, there is an admission charge. #10 general and $6 for students, children and senior citizens. No passes will be honored.
