DONS BEACH VOLLEYBALL TEAM WINS 3RD PLACE AT NORCAL HS CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2nd Annual Norcal HS Beach Volleyball Championships were held in Santa Cruz, CA on Sunday May 6th. More than thirty high schools participated in the event which reflects the growing popularity of the sport in Northern CA. Brand new club teams from Acalanes, Campolindo, Las Lomas and Miramonte were started this year in response to interest in Beach Volleyball among our local high school athletes. The launch of these teams was made possible by a partnership with LMYA Sports, who sponsored the court time for practice at Moraga Commons, and a devotion to organizing and coaching the teams by LMYA Volleyball Commissioner Eric Standring. It was a successful and fun first season, capped off by a 3rd place finish by the Dons of Acalanes High School.

Members of Acalanes, Campolindo and Las Lomas High Schools inaugural Beach Volleyball teams competed in the Norcal HS Beach Championships in Santa Cruz, CA.

CALLING ALL ACALANES SENIOR RECRUITED STUDENT ATHLETES

On Thursday, May 24, at lunchtime, Acalanes Boosters is proud to present a celebration of Acalanes’ talented, hard-working student-athletes who have been recruited to play their sports in college (Division I, II or III) while continuing their educations.

Local media, parents, friends, AHS students, and the community are ALL invited. There will be a group question and answer session, photo and interview opportunities, and other fun.

If your son or daughter has been recruited to play an intercollegiate sport in college next year and he or she has committed to play, please contact Jennifer Larson for more information so we can include them in the celebration. Your student-athlete does not have to play a sport that Acalanes offers, but the sport must be an intercollegiate sport (not club sport) at the school your student-athlete will attend.

In Tuesday’s action…

Everyone was a winner.

Boys Volleyball

The biggest victory came from the #5 seeded boys volleyball team in five games over perennial power and #1 seeded Campolindo HS in the NCS semifinals.  The Cougars won the first and third games, but the Dons battled back in the second and fourth to force game five.  The Dons found themselves down 12-8 and on the brink of elimination when they mounted the incredible rally outscoring their opponent 10-4 to post a stunning game five victory 18-16.  They not only advance to the Championship game, but they qualify for the CIF NorCal playoffs.  The Championship game is at Northgate HS Thursday at 7:00.

Girls Lacrosse

The #2 seeded girls lacrosse team led off the evening’s semifinal action with a rematch against #3 Piedmont HS.  The Dons were in control the entire game and recorded an identical 13-10 victory to advance to the NCS championship game.  The Championship game is at Miramonte HS at 7:00. It’s been four years since the Lady Dons have played in the championship game so come support the girls and cheer them on!

Boys Lacrosse

The #2 seeded boys lacrosse team overcame a slow start in the first half against #3 Miramonte HS and exploded in the third quarter to cruise to a 16-9 victory.  The Championship game is against Marin Academy HS at Marin Catholic HS at 5:30.

Baseball

defeated Northgate HS 5-3.  The JV team also won 8-5.

Softball

defeated Mt. Diablo HS 16-4.

NOTE: NCS photos will only appear on the Maxpreps site.
