Boys Lax Team Beats Campo, Again!

Congratulations to the boys AND girls lacrosse teams as they both advance to the NCS semi-finals!

On Friday night, the Dons faced Campo for the 3rd time this season. Dons came out fighting and controlled the ball for the majority of the game. The first half proved to be tight as the Dons led by only 1 point with a score of 3 to 2 heading in to halftime. But Acalanes continued to play their game, pass and possess the ball and scored 6 goals in the 3rd quarter, Campo just 1. Even though Campo had a brief rally in the 4th quarter, they were still outscored, again, by the Dons 4 to 3. Final score 13 to 6.

Cole Tanner played an outstanding game scoring 4 goals, including 1 where his quick reflexes caught a rebounded shot which Cole immediately shot right back in the net. Adrian Jeffries turned it up in the 2nd half and scored 4 goals and 1 assist. Grant Jackson had an impressive 2 goals. We were thrilled to see the return of Colin Jeffries after an injury had sidelined him for a few weeks – Colin scored 1 goal. Chris Lane had 1 goal and Freshman call-up Finn Chorak made an impact with his first appearance catching a quick pass from Adrian Jeffries and firing it in to the net for a goal. Other assists came from Nathan Brickman, Sam deRoque, Vinny Gladden and Chris Lane.

The Don’s entire midline and defense were a force to be reckoned with Friday night. Vinny Gladden and Glenn Johnston led the night in forcing Campo turnovers and recovering ground balls. Brian Maiken always impresses with his relentless defense, ground ball recoveries and accurate clears. Leo Barakos and Sam deRogue’s speed shined through last night on several clears and breakaways. The victory was clearly a team effort!

Nate Welcomer shined as goalie with an impressive 5 saves.

Please come and support the Dons as they face Marin Academy at Acalanes on Wednesday night at 7pm.
