Apr 9 – Boys Lax: Close but not Enough

The Boys Lacrosse Team was defeated by Novato on Thursday night with a final score of 9 to 10. Novato came out fighting and put 2 goals on the board within the first few minutes of the game. Acalanes fought back and outscored Novato in the first quarter 5 to 3. In the second quarter, Novato rallied and outscored the Dons 5 to 1. Score at halftime was Dons 6 and Novato 8. The pace slowed down tremendously in the second half and the Dons allowed zero goals by Novato and scored 2 of their own in the 3rd quarter. But it just wasn’t enough – With the 4th quarter start at a tie game of 8 to 8, Novato managed to control the ball enough to run important time off the clock and score 2 goals while the Dons only answered with 1. Final score Acalanes 9, Novato 10.

The Jeffries brothers dominated offensively for the Dons with both Adrian Jeffries and Colin Jeffries scoring 4 goals each with 1 assist each, including an impressive behind the back goal by Colin! Chris Lane also scored 1 and Jack Thoren had an assist.

The Dons defensive pack of Josh Baginski, Vinny Gladden, Glenn Johnston and Brian Maiken forced a number of Novato turnovers. Sam deRoque won 4 faceoffs and Taylor Howell won 2.

Danny Ennis had 6 saves at goalie and Nate Welcomer had 5 saves.

The Dons will face #1 ranked San Ramon Valley on Saturday (today) at 2 pm at SRV. Please come, wear BLUE,
