In a hard fought battle the Lady Dons fell short Tuesday to rival Campolindo High School. Fans watched & cheered in anticipation as the Dons maintained control for most of the game. At halftime the Dons led by three. Third quarter left fans on the edge of their seats as the lead floated back and forth between the rivals. The Dons put up a good fight, shutting down Campo’s 3-point shooters and their dominant post player for most of the game. But foul trouble in the 4th quarter set the Dons back after fouling out two of three Post players and the third forced to play it safe after getting her fourth foul call.

Brooke Panfili led the way with 22 points and hit multiple key shots in the 2nd half to keep the Dons within striking distance. Roni Marrone contributed with 13 points, while Lauren Kobashigawa added 10 points, but our Guards scoring power just wasn’t enough to take back the lead and the Dons fell short with a 78-62 loss.

The Ladies are in action again on Friday night on the road at Northgate.
The Lady Dons prevailed 51 to 45 versus Santa Rosa Tuesday night. It was a hard fought game throughout, as the teams battled back and forth until the Lady Dons finally pulled away for good in the closing minutes. Once again the girls played very sound team defense which caused multiple forced shots as the time clock expired.
Brooke Panfili led the way with 23 points and controlled the game for much of the night from her point guard role. Roni Marrone also chipped in 11 points, was a force on the glass rebounding, and hit clutch free throws down the stretch. Player of the game went to Sabina Patel for outstanding transition defense!
The Lady Dons improved to 4-0 on the season with the victory. The girls are back in action Thursday night at Los Medanos College against Brookside Christian.
The Lady Dons went on the road for the 3rd time this week and recorded a 60 to 39 victory over Middletown Friday night. The girls started out with intense full court defensive pressure which helped build a comfortable early lead. The momentum continued until the end of the first half, as the lead grew to 25 at the break. The girls coasted the rest of the way for the victory which put the squad at 3-0 to start the season.
Emma Godfrey led the way with 18 points and 7 rebounds, while Brooke Panfili added 11 points and 6 assists. Freshman Lauren Kobashigawa was a spark off the bench with 11 points and 4 steals.
Next up is a game against Santa Rosa High at the Amador Basketball Classic on Tuesday.
The Lady Dons went on the road Wednesday night to face off against power house Castro Valley Trojans. Castro Valley is known to be a tough & physical team, having quick guards and high scoring shooters. Going into the game was another challenge, as Coach Jim Lemmon is the former CYO Coach to the Lady Dons new Varsity Coach Ashley Valenzuela and Assistant Coach Christina Ozuna.
Our Lady Dons faced a close battle the entire way and ended halftime 25-23 in Trojans favor. Walking away gassed from a fast-paced, hard pressing team, Coach Ashley rallied her players during half-time. She quickly made some serious adjustments to her defense and the girls adjusted with ease. The adjustments frazzled the Lady Trojans, but the Dons kept fighting and ended the 3rd quarter 35-35.
The Lady Dons continued to battle it out on the court and the Lady Trojans showed no mercy, doing everything they could to shut down Senior Point Guard, Brooke Panfili. While Brooke remained heavily guarded, she continued to remain cool and calm, trusting in Coach Ashley to lead the way and make the needed play adjustments. The team rallied together and thanks to the outstanding team defense and the efforts of Emma Godfrey, Veronica Marrone “Roni”, Olivia Sabbadini “Liv Sab”, Sabina Patel “Beanz”, Naomi House “Nai” and Sydney Louie “Syd” the girls took the lead in the 4th quarter bringing to 43-40. From their the Lady Dons became unstoppable and pulled away, taking a victory and ending the game at 54-48.
While the Trojans held Brooke Panfili to 11 pts, Coach Ashley awarded her “Player of the Game” for staying calm and cool under the intense pressure.
Lady Dons hit the road once again heading to Middleton High School Friday night!
The Lady Dons went on the road Tuesday night playing Deer Valley High School in Antioch. JV had a successful run after defeating the Wolverines in OT 43-34.
Varsity was quick on their feet, showing everyone that the Lady Dons were there to play by coming away with a 63 to 27 victory over the Lady Wolverines. After ending the first quarter with a 25 to 7 lead the the girls never looked back. Emma Godfrey lead the way with 23 points and 7 rebounds, while Brooke Panfili played the role of floor general with 18 points, 7 assists, and 5 steals. Roni Marrone took away “Player of the Game” for her silent but deadly drives, cuts and defense and being an all around “Player of the Game”.
The Lady Dons begin their pre-league season 1-0 and hit the road again Wednesday to take on Castro Valley High School.
