Apr 26 – Girls Lacrosse win over Las Lomas
The Acalanes girls lacrosse team came out for a second half on Tuesday night in Walnut Creek that one parent likened to the Warriors and their 41 point third quarter on Sunday.
The game tied up at 5 all with 19:31 left, thanks to a Susie Bush goal on a free position shot, and Bush put the ball away three more times before the game ended to lead the Dons to victory. Marie Whitmore kept the Dons even in the first half with two goals in the first six minutes, and picked up another in the second half. Kelsey Wendt and Emma Workman also scored for the Dons and Sophie Ross had a goal in each half. Ross and Julia Mueller were strong presences in the circle with four draw controls each, and Whitmore added three in a row in the second half onslaught. Jenna Kisner had two gravity-defying caused turnovers and turned one of them into an assist; Whitmore and Bush both donated free position shots to assists also. Kisner and Kelcey Higgins played aggressive defense, and Higgins led the ground ball pickups with five, along with a caused turnover. The Dons defense held tight in the second half with the dependable anchor of Samantha Repstad in the goal with 11 saves.
The Dons meet Dublin at home on Thursday (a change of date from the original schedule) at 7 p.m.
