Apr 26 – Congratulations to Boy’s Varsity Lacrosse
…for beating Redwood High School Saturday with a final score of 6 to 4.
It was an exciting game on Saturday as the 2013 Division 2 champions (Acalanes) took on the 2013 Division 1 champions (Redwood). The game started out with a bang when Nathan Brickman and Adrian Jeffries both scored in the first quarter. The Don’s outstanding defense shut out Redwood in the first quarter allowing them no chances to score. Redwood managed to get on the board in the second quarter going into the 2nd half with a score of 2 to 1. Jack Mariani and Chris Lane both scored in the 3rd quarter bringing the score to 4 to 2. With less than 12 minutes left in the game Robbie Stern scored bringing the score to 5 to 2. Redwood managed to score 2 back to back goals which left less than 5 minutes in the game and many people were worried and wondering… Could the Dons could pull it off? However, Adrian Jeffries answered back with another goal in the 4th quarter. With tremendous pressure from the Dons’ defense and outstanding goalie saves by Cam Bosshart, Redwood was unable to score again. As the clock ticked down, the Dons knew the win was within reach and the sideline celebration began. As is tradition, the elated boys rushed Cam to celebrate his and all of the defense’s tremendous play! Acalanes is only the 2nd team this year to hold Redwood to just 4 goals, as most of Redwoods opponents have allowed them an average of 12 goals per game.
I would be remiss not to mention Peter Mitchell won 8 of the 12 face-offs, Vinny Gladden made several outstanding plays and won many ground balls, Tyler Henderson helped changed the momentum of the game with several key defensive and offensive plays. Thank you to the terrific turn-out of friends, fellow students and fans who came to cheer on the team. I would estimate it was the most well attended game so far this year. Congratulations to the entire team on an outstanding win!
Acalanes remains ranked #1 in CIF North Coast and #4 in California. The Dons will play Tuesday at Campolindo and Thursday at home against Las Lomas celebrating Senior night. Both games are at 7pm.
