Apr 19 – Clayton Valley Track Results

Yesterday we competed at Clayton Valley (whose claim to fame is the worst football field in America; it is black). The Varsity Girls won the meet 80 to 54 (the spread would have been even greater had Devin Grobeck and Imani Boggan competed – both were out due to illness). The Varsity Girls are are the league division champions. To become League Champions the girls must win the league championship meet May 6th and 13th at Campo. Their main competitor will be Miramonte.

The Varsity Boys lost to Clayton Valley 71 to 64. That is a four point differential – one second place instead a third place or one first instead of a second, and we would have won. It was that close. The boys finished second in the division with a 3-1 record, and their competition at the league championships will again be Clayton Valley.

Both the girls and boys competed well. We had 71 PR’s or season best by 47 individual athletes. The two top performances of the meet were by Muppy Gragg and Ryan Nall. Muppy improved on the third best all-time 400M with 57.91, running into a strong headwind and winning by 40 yards as she and Imani Boggan are on a quest to become the all-time best in that event. Ryan stepped up big time and outperformed Clayton’s Valley’s league leading shot putter with a PR of 46 feet.
