Acalanes Sports during Winter Break

The Winter sports were very busy during the break.

Boys basketball
The varsity team was defeated by Sir Francis Drake HS. The JV and freshman teams fared no better.
The varsity team defeated Piner HS and Santa Rosa HS to set up the championship game with 10-1 Cardinal Newman HS at the Sonoma County Classic at Piner HS. The boys played very well to defeat the Cardinals 57-55 to claim the tournament championship. Buster Souza was the Tournament MVP and Matt Thomas was an All-Tournament selection.
The JV team won the Ferreboeff Memorial Invitational at San Marin HS.

Girls basketball
The varsity team defeated Fairfield HS in the first round of the West Coast Jamboree at Bentley HS, but lost close games to Eureka HS and Washington HS of San Francisco.

Boys soccer
Friday before the break began, the varsity team completed the first half of the DFAL season with an unblemished 6-0 record by defeating Alhambra HS 3-1. They obliterated College Park HS 5-0 to raise their overall record to 12-0.

Girls soccer
Before the Winter break, the varsity team was edged out by Alhambra HS 1-0.  During the Tri-Valley Invitational, they came alive with victories over Mission San Jose HS, Albany HS and Irvington HS by an aggregate score of 13-3, with 2-1 loss to Ygnacio Valley HS to raise their overall record to 6-5-1.
