Acalanes Lady Dons JV Girls Tennis blanked the College Park Falcons 8-0 at CPHS

In what is quite likely a first for DFAL tennis, Callie Zucker and Julia Lauer won at D-3, while Callie played barefoot. Julia was covering a lot of the court, but Callie held her own while shoeless. At D-8, Olivia Olson and Sally Tang showed great heart by coming back from 0-3 to prevail at 7-5 by breaking their opponents’ serve. Since we were somewhat decimated by illness, many of our girls played multiple sets against College Park. Playing again in the final set of the day and in the third set for both players, Sami Browne and her partner Lia Swan went to a tie-breaker to win 7-6. Lia played some wicked angle shots winners and Sami took charge at the net in a really exciting finale.

Here are the first set scores:

1. Riley Winquist / Cameron Morton won 6-1
2. Kellianne Witt / Maddie Guzaitis won 6-0
3. Shoeless Callie Zucker / Well shod Julia Lauer won 6-3
4. Alex Awwad / Claire Pockell-Wilson won 6-3
5. Claire Terentieff/ Samantha Browne won 6-1
6. Jessica Gerson / Skyler DeMartini won 6-3
7. Maggie Curless / Lia Swan won 6-0
8. Sally Tang / Olivia Olson won 7-5

It was great to have Olivia Daniels out there to root us home to victory. Nice playing today.
