Girls Basketball Team Tryouts
Acalanes Girls’ Basketball Tryouts for the 2021-22 season will be Monday November 1st (3:30 to 5:30) and Tuesday November 2nd (3:30 to 5:30) in the Large Gym. Please arrive 15 minutes early.
To be eligible all paperwork must be turned in on SportsNet prior to tryouts. Links to the paperwork are on the Acalanes homepage under “Athletics” on the dropdown menu choose Athletic Registration and follow the steps. Contact Mr. Takahashi if you have questions.
Head Coach: Margaret Gartner
In her 24 years at Carondelet High School, Margaret built a nationally ranked powerhouse program. Her teams won 10 North Coast Section championships, 6 Norcal championships, and 1 state championship including 5 Final Fours. Her overall high school record is 537-137. A four-time State coach of the year and eight-time Bay Area coach of the year, Margaret has produced over 40 Division I student-athletes. Lastly, as executive director and owner, Margaret has run Fastbreak Basketball Camp for the last 29 years, helping thousands of local athletes learn the game.
Varsity Asst. Coach: Scott Espinosa-Brown
Scott has produced successful high school and college programs. At Campolindo High School, his teams won 10 North Coast Sectional Championships, appeared in 8 final fours, won 3 Norcal championships, and garnered 3 State Championships. His overall high school record is 407-59 and college is 73-40. Bay area sports organizations and newspapers have awarded him 7 coaching honors and 1 State Coach of the Year. More than 50 of his student-athletes have played at the Division 1 level in college. Currently, Scott is completing his 15th year as Margaret Gardner‘s assistant coach and loving it.
